Love, sickness, health and exam anxiety at a Danish hospital in the 50s. Erik and Anna are among the first to be accepted into a nursing school with men and women being trained together. Due to a lack of trained nurses, the Danish government decides, on a trial basis, that it is socially acceptable for a man to work as a nurse. It is not easy for the men to be accepted as nurses in an working environment with old-fashioned hierarchies and strict disciplinary work ethics.

Syke
The events in the series take place in the trauma ward of the metropolitan central hospital, which treats the most acute patient cases. Her husband is lying in a vegetative state and will never wake up. Unfortunately, Lenita's daughter doesn't believe it and refuses to discuss the possibility of a resuscitation ban. In addition to interpersonal and patient stories, the series deals with the hierarchy of the hospital world from the perspective of nurses: what it feels like to follow a doctor's instructions, even though you have often had time to get to know the patient better than the doctor.
